Apple Pie Yogurt

This, to me, is a serious comfort food. I used to buy the commercial brand in the store, but decided to make a healthier, less sugary, whole food version at home. I get more for my money this way as well!

If you need a little down-home comfort, fast, this recipe is sure to give you that. Great to prepare as on the go breakfasts as well.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of apple pie filling- recipe below
  • Additional apples, baked and chopped or raw
  • A dash of pure maple syrup or honey (optional)
  • An extra dash of cinnamon and nutmeg as desired (optional)
  • A dash of vanilla extract
  • A dash of salt
  • 1 container of plain whole milk yogurt or about 2 lbs of home made yogurt

Apple pie filling:

  • 1 big or 2 small apples
  • 1 TBSP maple or honey
  • dash of each, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt, vanilla extract

Bake in the oven until apples are nice and tender. The out of the oven and let cool before you mix it in. If you let this mixture sit overnight it will taste even better.
